2012 Main Salmon River Trips:
Getting from Boise to Salmon
Salmon, Idaho is located about 120 miles south of Missoula, Montana just west of the Continental Divide. We've tried to make our travel suggestions simple and cost effective for families. Our Planning Your Trip page has additional information that will help make your vacation on the Salmon River easy to plan. Our Salmon River rafting trips meet at 7 pm the evening before departure on the lawn behind the Stagecoach Inn.
Easiest and Most Convenient: Fly from Boise to Salmon
Flights from Boise to Salmon can be arranged with McCall Aviation, 1-800-448-3413. The Stagecoach Inn provides a free shuttle from the airport for guests staying with them. At the end of your trip, use McCall Aviation for the shuttle back to Boise. The cost of this air shuttle, Boist to Salmon and return to Boise from McCall, is $395 per person.
Cost Effective: Drive to McCall and use an Air Shuttle
Rent a car in Boise for the week and drive to McCall. From there arrange a scenic flight with McCall Aviation to Salmon the day before departure. The flight cost for guests floating the Main Salmon with Idaho River Journeys is $195 per-person. At the end of your trip, we'll return you to your car in McCall.
Cost Effective: Drive to Salmon. Shuttle your Vehicle
If you drive your own vehicle to Salmon, you can have your vehicle shuttled to McCall while you are on the river. The cost is about $290 plus gas. Contact River Shuttles to arrange for this service.
Least Expensive: Great Option but Long Drives
This option involves renting a car in Boise for the week and driving to Salmon. While on the river, leave the car at the Stagecoach Inn parking lot. When the river trip is over, have your family spend the day in the resort town of McCall while the driver flies back to Salmon with McCall Aviation to pick up the car. The drive from Salmon to McCall takes about 6 hours through beautiful country. After your visit to McCall, the drive back to Boise is only 3 hours. The typical standard vehicle rental for a week is about $200. The flight from McCall to Salmon is $195.
